PSI is recruiting a Malaria Technical Director, to be based in Luanda, Angola.

Duties

  • Technical leadership and oversight to strengthen integrated malaria service delivery
  • Lead the design and implementation of relevant interventions to improve malaria case management, including ICCM and ensure that they are high quality, appropriate, and aligned with MOH, donor and stakeholder expectations
  • Strengthen community and facility level technical capacity to deliver malaria health services, including the capacity to sustain and bring to scale high-quality activities activities
  • Assist MOH to design and implement evaluations and assessments to identify gaps, measure impact and track performance of interventions
  • Effectively apply tools, national standards and guidelines and best practices to improve service delivery
  • Contribute to design and implementation of effective supportive supervision system to improve malaria case management, MIP, ICCM and other relevant health services interventions. Supervise service delivery improvements teams
  • Ensure effective collaboration between the project partners and stakeholders, MOH and the donor organizations
  • Actively participate in data quality improvement initiatives, including HMIS/DHIS2 and others. Lead data for decision making initiatives
  • Support the development and tracking of relevant performance indicators
  • Support the development and implementation of annual project work plans and budgets with the Chief of Party
  • Contribute to regular and ad hoc project reporting and the development of project deliverables

Requisites

  • You have an advanced degree in public health, infectious disease, or related field required; clinical degree (MD) preferred
  • You have a minimum of 10 years of experience implementing health programs in developing and transitioning countries, with at least 5 years of experience as a technical advisor in malaria integrated health programs
  • Experience supporting service delivery quality improvement initiatives preferred
  • You have experience in program design, strategic planning and integrated approaches to facility and community-level service delivery improvement
  • You work effectively with program staff, implementing partners, national and local governments and donor organizations. Experience with USAID and PMI funded projects preferred
  • You have experience and are passionate in building local technical, management and leadership capacity
  • You are fluent in English and Portuguese
